The White House security breach raises concerns among some military spouses and veterans

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — When Alyssa Myatt’s husband served on an aircraft carrier last year, she and other U.S. Navy spouses had to follow strict security protocols that meant driving to the ship’s home port just to learn that its deployment was being extended.

Texting, phone calls and emails about the deployment were restricted. A Facebook group connecting families with sailors was consistently monitored by the Navy, and posts were deleted if they contained sensitive information such as a photo that could give away the ship’s location, Myatt said.

The revelation of a group chat in which Trump administration officials discussed an attack on Houthi rebels in Yemen was difficult to process for some military families, who are held to high standards when it comes to protecting information about the whereabouts and assignments of spouses and loved ones. A Message From Mayor Adams:
Each week DVS shares a brief update about how our administration is getting stuff done for New Yorkers.
Our administration works every day to create a more affordable city for every New Yorker, and that means creating new, affordable housing in every neighborhood. Last week, the City Planning Commission voted in favor of the Atlantic Avenue Mixed-Use Plan, a proposal that will bring 4,600 new homes and 2,800 permanent jobs to a 21-block stretch of Atlantic Avenue in Central Brooklyn. Over in Queens, we announced the public review of the Jamaica neighborhood plan, which will create nearly 12,000 new homes, 7,000 new jobs, and invest $300 million in sewer improvements, more resilient streets, and new public space. Across the five boroughs, we are continuing to address the city’s housing crisis by advancing bold, transformational housing projects that will create thousands of jobs and homes, ensuring we make New York City the best place to raise a family. At DVS, no matter where you are in your housing journey, we have the resources you need to get where you're going. Our housing team is standing by to connect New York City Veterans to the housing services that are right for them. Visit nyc.gov/vetconnect to connect to housing services.
