Black History Month Luncheon
Veteran Peer Coordinator Tommie Lloyd was a guest speaker at the Department of Finance's Black History Month Luncheon. He discussed efforts to support New York City, including running a sock drive for homeless vets.

Housing Strategy & Support
DVS' Housing and Support Services team met with Lynne Patton, who heads a regional Housing and Urban Development office overseeing New York and New Jersey. They discussed strategies for placing veterans in to permanent housing.

Caregiver Focus Group
On February 27, DVS brought together local military caregivers and support organizations, providers, and agencies to identify the most critical needs for the city’s military and veteran caregivers.

Samsung American Legion Scholarship
Worldwide electronics leader Samsung endowed a scholarship fund of $5 million to be administered by The American Legion in 1996.
Samsung scholarships may be used for undergraduate studies and applied toward tuition, books, fees, and room and board. For eligibility information and to apply, visit the American Legion website.
