The GW4 Building Communities Generator Fund is now open and collaborative research and innovation communities across the four universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Exeter can apply for up to £20K funding.
Now in its fourth year, this initiative supports both the creation of new GW4 communities and the development of the strongest ideas emerging from our existing communities.
The GW4 Generator Fund is an open call and applications across all areas of research and innovation are invited. Applications from Early Career Research (ECR) communities are particularly welcome and supported

GW4 leads international AMR project
A GW4 led international antimicrobial resistance (AMR) research community has been awarded £50K by the global coordinator the Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance (JPIAMR) to investigate the spread of antimicrobial resistance by exploring how the resistance genes spread on plasmids.
This collaborative network called Tools for the Epidemiology of AMR Plasmids, One-Health Transmission and Surveillance (TEAPOTS) aims to establish generic standards and tools for AMR plasmid epidemiology and enhanced surveillance.

Transforming GW4 universities into 'Living Labs'
The GW4 Living Labs pilot engages students, researchers, non-academic staff, local authorities, community organisations, and industry in developing Living Labs for Net Zero Transformation. This project focuses on emissions from our supply chains and travel (Scope 3 emissions), which represent our greatest opportunity to cut emissions.
The final project workshop, on 28 February 2023, will look at Scope 3 emissions in Southwest England and South Wales.

GW4 Crucible Alumni Lightning Talks
As part of our new lightning talk sessions for the GW4 Crucible Alumni Network, past GW4 Crucible participants are sharing their current research on Health and Wellbeing.
Each short talk will be followed by a Q&A session. It is an excellent opportunity to keep in contact with existing collaborators and identify potential new partnerships.
The next session will take place on 18 January from 2-3pm (online via zoom).
