Highlights of knowledge sharing, capacity building and technical collaborations between Southern countries
South-South Galaxy is a 'next generation’ platform, powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI), that offers transformational cooperation opportunities through enhanced knowledge sharing and collaboration across borders.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, digital  innovators have been responding to the crisis with a progressive approach. South-South and triangular cooperation, through facilitating knowledge exchange, interaction and establishment of networks, building capacity and deploying working solutions and innovations on a broader level, will help us harness these innovations more widely in tackling challenges brought upon by the current pandemic.

Launched in June 2021, International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC)'s Global South COVID-19 Digital Innovation Challenge is identifying scalable, innovative, digital solutions that will enable countries, societies, communities, institutions and individuals from the Global South to deal with the cascading effects of the pandemic. The Challenge has received over 250 applications from the global South and, following a rigorous selection process, 25 shortlisted digital changemakers have been invited to present their digital solutions in front of a selection committee at the Live Pitch Event being held on 26 and 27 October during ITU's Global Innovation Forum (GIF).

Ten winners will be announced on 29 October at the GIF final session on “Bringing it all together”. Learn more about the upcoming event, meet the judges and sign up to attend.
