Our next IN PERSON MEET-UP is Sunday, September 20 from 1-4 pm
We will have all the protocols set up as people come into our spacious room. Everyone will have their own table set 6’ away from others. We encourage you to wear a mask into the room but feel free to remove it only when seated in your chair. We encourage you to bring your own supplies (iron, cutting boards, etc.) There will be no refreshments provided but feel free to bring your own.
If you are not feeling well, have traveled outside the province or country in the last 14 days, been in contact with someone who has tested positive to Covid 19, please stay home. Thank you
It’s been an interesting time in our lives and we still look for a connection to the world outside our homes. Our circles may have gotten a little bigger but we are still cautious when we go out to shop, gather with family and try to see friends at a distance.
WMQG has been connecting by ZOOM and it has been great seeing the faces we normally see each month at our regular meet-ups.
WMQG News
We welcome two new faces to the Executive Committee
Please say hello to Holly Clarke who will look after all of our Social Media needs. Holly comes from a background of graphic design and has time & talent to share with us. We are excited to have Holly on the team.
Also, please welcome Pat Daniels who is our Education Coordinator. Pat has spearheaded our donation quilt that went to QuiltCon and also teaches many forms of quilting. We look forward to all that Pat will be planning for us.
Cindy Smyth will take the role of Chair of the guild (she doesn’t like the word President) and will continue her role as Secretary.
Our guild will have the continued support of Bonnie Olfert as Treasurer, Sarah Ethier as Membership Coordinator, and our fabulous Members-at-Large are held by Melissa Marginet and Shelley Young.
We say THANK YOU to Brenda Suderman for her years of support as Social Media person and Education Coordinator. That’s a lot to do. We will miss your dedicated work and support but are happy to see her at future guild meet-ups. Please be sure to say thank you to Brenda when you see her.
Guild Challenges
Challenge Yourself: Melissa Marginet, WMQG member at large, has planned a challenge to boost your creativity. We hope you will join in the fun!
Placemats: We are partnering with “Meals On Wheels”, supplying them with placemats for their clients. Here’s your chance to be creative, practice a new technique, use up some of your scrap fabrics or try a new pattern. Keep it fun and cost effective. Suggested size is 13” x 18”. Show them off at Show & Share and then drop them into the box provided at our meetups.

Access to a very spacious room at RiverView Community Centre
September 26th, Saturday from 9am to 3:30pm (with ½ hour lunch)
There are so many ways you can quilt as you go. Students learn several ways, starting off with the basic sashing method, by making samples to take home to their studios with them for future reference. We will also look at patterns and see how we can break them up so they can be finished on your home sewing machines. CONFIDENT BEGINNER and up.
Unfortunately the workshop that was scheduled for November 2020 with Krista Hennebury has been canceled.

We are planning to be able to meet in person and will follow the Provincial COVID-19 guidelines as instructed. We have shortened the duration of the meet-ups to get a feel from the membership if a meet-up is what we are looking to do at this time. Consider it our "Phase One" of reopening.
