Fox Creek Farm social media challenge 2020
Was signing up for another season of exceptional produce one of your New Year resolutions?
Belated Happy New Year! Here at the farm we are enjoying the noticeably longer days. Over the last month, Sara reviewed the 2019 harvest and planting notes, and the end-of-season questionnaire responses. We are ready to go into the nitty-gritty of creating the 2020 farm plan.
2020 will be an interesting year, as we are expanding the harvest season from 20 to 22 weeks. We'll be putting those new high tunnels to work!
The U-Albany School of Business project we worked on last fall has resulted in some new ideas around promotion of our farm - where else can you find such exceptional local and seasonal produce, together with a wonderful U-pick , all grown at a uniquely scenic family farm?
We also invite you in this newsletter to join us in our new social media campaign - the U-Albany students are convinced that we can make a lot of improvement there, so as our farm's New Years resolution, we're going to give it a try!
Johanna has been working on a new logo for Fox Creek Farm. In this newsletter we share a 'sneak peak'. We love to hear what you think of it!
Meanwhile, everything at the farm is going well this winter. We got some projects out of the way, and enough work ahead of us to keep us focused until the first plantings in the field.
It's an honor to be your farmers!
Raymond and Sara
Announcing our new Schenectady site
We are glad to announce that the Creation Care Committee of the First Reformed Church in Schenectady is hosting our new Fox Creek Farm CSA pick-up site. The goals of the Creation Care Committee align very well with our CSA, and we are looking forward to see how this new collaboration matures.
The First Reformed Church is in the Stockade, which is a very historical part of the city of Schenectady. As our pick-ups remain on Thursday afternoon, there's ample parking available in the Church parking lot - and if you're really close to the First Reformed Church, you'll know that the Stockade is a very walk-able neighborhood!
A sneak peak at our new Fox Creek Farm logo
Since we started the CSA 16 years ago, we have been using the same Fox Creek Farm logo. But over time lots of things changed. We moved to a new farm. We improved our growing practices. We grew our CSA membership. In short, we're starting to get the idea that our logo needs a bit of change, too, to better reflect what Fox Creek Farm stands for.
So here is a sneak-peak of Johanna's work on our new farm logo. We'd love to hear what you think of it!
Fox Creek Farm CSA social media sweepstakes
As you might know, Fox Creek Farm is on Instagram and Facebook. Obviously, we're spending a lot of time on the farm, and it kind-of slipped our mind that a lot of people use social media to find out more about operations like ours. That's one of the reasons why the U-Albany students encouraged us to improve the farm's social media presence.
We are asking for your help. We invite you to share on your Facebook or Instagram page your favorite Fox Creek Farm CSA picture. Write a couple of sentences why this picture is special to you, what makes Fox Creek Farm CSA exceptional, and include the #foxcreekfarmcsa hashtag.
And have a chance for a $ 50 credit towards your 2020 CSA share! For this #foxcreekfarmcsa social media campaign, we'll search for all new entries on Friday, January 31. We will choose one winner, who will receive the credit.
