1. Updated Staff Performance Evaluation Form and Supporting Documents

Evaluating employee performance is one of the most important tools that affect employee engagement. When managers share significant feedback with employees it allows them to continue or adjust their performance appropriately. The UTHSC performance evaluation process period occurs each year between January and March, with all staff being evaluated on their performance from the previous calendar year.

The staff evaluation tool consists of five key elements where managers rate employees. The Office of Equity and Diversity, along with the Office of Human Resources, has modified one of the key elements to align with one of our UTHSC strategic priorities – diversity and inclusion. Please join us for a webinar Friday, September 18, at 10:00 am, as we share the rationale, new form element, and descriptions to support the evaluation process.

2. Job Family Compensation Project Update

Since June 2017, a systemwide human resources team of compensation experts has been engaged in a comprehensive job family compensation project, aiming to improve processes, classifications and pay structures. The project team has developed new job families, roles, and levels that will replace the current job title structure for many regular staff positions.

The updated job families, which are classifications grouped by similar types of work and required training, skills, knowledge and expertise, are now available to view on the Compensation Project website.

Compensation Project Overview will be held virtually for UTHSC employees on Friday, Sept. 25 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm CDT for any questions or concerns. Please register via the hyperlink above or button below.

5. Masks Required On Campus

Following the CDC’s recommendation to wear masks or face coverings in public settings, all UTHSC employees, students, patients, contractors, vendors, and anyone else who comes to campus for any reason are REQUIRED to wear face protective gear.

Per the CDC, cloth face coverings should—

  • fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
  • be secured with ties or ear loops
  • include multiple layers of fabric
  • allow for breathing without restriction
  • be able to be laundered and machine dried without damage or change to shape
Please note that gaiters (pull-up neck scarves) do not meet the campus mask guidelines.
