1. Memphis Campus Closed February 18 and 19

Due to inclement weather, the UTHSC campus in Memphis will be closed Thursday, February 18 and Friday, February 19. Students who attend classes virtually and employees who work remotely should continue to do so. Please be safe and stay warm!

2. Virtual Black History Month Block Party

Are you looking to have fun with your coworkers again? Would you like to take part in an exciting cultural event from the safety of your own home? Look no further, the Office of Equity and Diversity and the Black Student Association present A Virtual Block Party TODAY, Thursday, February 18, at 3:00 pm via Zoom.

Keeping up with the national theme for the month, The Black Family: Representation, Identity and Diversity, we will offer door prizes, play games centered around Black culture, test our knowledge of local Black history, have fun and get to select winners for the lip sync/air guitar battle! Please register for the Zoom link. Feel free to come and go from this virtual event as you can.

3. Black Student Association 2021 Annual Awards Virtual Ceremony

Observe and celebrate with the Black Student Association for the 2021 Annual Awards Virtual Ceremony, which will premiere via YouTube on Friday, February 26, at 6:00 pm CST. Altha Stewart, MD, Senior Associate Dean for Community Health Engagement, will be the keynote speaker. For more information, please visit the 2021 BSA Awards Ceremony and Presentation website.

4. Nominations Open for President's Awards

Please nominate a faculty or staff member for the 2021 President's Awards! There are six categories for the President's Awards:

  • Connect
  • Discover
  • Diversity
  • Educate
  • Support (exempt staff)
  • Support (non-exempt staff)

To read more about each category, and to see past winners (UTHSC has had 8 winners in the past four years!), please visit the President's Awards website.

To be eligible, employees must be:

  • Regular, full-time faculty or staff
  • Located at any of our UTHSC locations
  • Employed for at least 5 full calendar years prior to the date of nomination
  • Free from any disciplinary actions for the past 5 years
  • Consistently exceeding expectations with their overall performance

Past President's Award winners are not eligible for nomination for five years. UT System Administration vice presidents, campus/institute chancellors, and vice chancellors are also not eligible.

You may nominate one employee per category by providing a few sentences about how the nominee stands out in their particular category via the online submission formNominations close Sunday, February 21.

5. Flu Vaccinations Available at UHS

UTHSC employees and students can schedule an appointment with University Health Services for FREE flu vaccinations Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (closed 1:00 – 2:00 pm daily for lunch) at 910 Madison Avenue, 9th Floor, on the Memphis campus.

Flu vaccinations are mandatory this year for all UT employees and students, unless you have documentation to support an exemption.

To schedule an appointment, please call University Health Services at 901.448.5630. No walk-ins will be accepted.

Verification of vaccine administration will be provided during the visit.
