2. UTHSC Flu Vaccine Update
In early July, the UT Board of Trustees approved an emergency resolution authorizing the University of Tennessee System to require CDC or Department of Health recommended vaccines for all faculty, staff, and students that are deemed to aid in preventing, controlling, or monitoring the spread of COVID-19. This includes the flu immunization and could include a COVID vaccine, if one is developed and recommended by the CDC and Tennessee Department of Health. You can read more about this announcement here.
The UTHSC campus in Memphis typically holds a flu vaccine clinic one day each fall so that faculty, staff, and students may get their flu vaccine for free. University Health Services (UHS) is still planning to hold a flu vaccine clinic this fall, however the date has not yet been announced. UHS is currently waiting to hear when the vaccines will be delivered, as they are delayed due to the demands of COVID-19.
If you are required to have your flu vaccine by October 1, you may want to consider other alternatives. A campus announcement for this fall's flu vaccine clinic will be sent out as soon as we receive an update on the arrival of the vaccines.
We apologize for this delay. If you have any questions about the flu vaccine, please contact UHS at 901.448.5630.
