1. Required HIPAA Training

Faculty, Staff, Postdocs, Residents, and Students: To ensure everyone is aware of their responsibilities under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the University of Tennessee Health Science Center’s (UTHSC) workforce must undergo periodic HIPAA Privacy TrainingThis online training is the official 2021 UTHSC-sanctioned training for federal HIPAA compliance purposes.

The deadline for completing this training is June 30.  

2. Employees: 2021 Annual Compliance Training is Due June 1.

In an effort to maintain compliance with federal regulations and UT system policies, we are asking all current UTHSC employees to complete the six remaining training courses in K@TE. These include:

  • Campus Security Authority (CSA) Training
  • UT Code of Conduct
  • Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Hazard Awareness and Workplace Safety
  • Title VI (Civil Rights Act)
  • Title IX: Mandatory Responsible Employees


In previous years, you received these trainings at various times throughout the year. To simplify this process, all training has been coordinated in one location and disseminated at one time.

The deadline for completing this training is June 1.

3. Two-hour Reservations Now Available at the UTHSC Fitness Center

Great news – two-hour reservations are now available at the UTHSC Fitness Center on the Memphis campus! Members may reserve two-hour blocks in either the weight/strength or cardio areas. Slots are available in both areas at 6:00 am, 8:00 am, 10:00 am, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm, and 6:00 pm.

Our reservation policies are as follows:

  • Members may only reserve one session in any given area.
  • Members must leave weight/cardio room 10 minutes until the hour for sanitization. Re-entry permitted at the top of the hour.
  • Double booking and/or multiple bookings are not permitted.
  • Members may only use the specific area of the fitness center reserved online.
  • Members MUST wear a mask at all times.
  • These policies are non-negotiable.
  • You may be required to present your email confirmation/ email reservation receipt upon entry.

4. 2020-21 Annual Report

As Tennessee’s public, academic health care institution, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center has been a leader in the state’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with expert information and guidance, testing, treatment, support for the development of therapeutics, and vaccine research and delivery. At the same time, UTHSC graduated all its students, residents, and fellows on schedule, and expanded its academic, clinical, research, and community engagement missions. UTHSC truly spans the state with its reach and impact.

5. COVID-19 Vaccinations

The UTHSC administration, along with University Health Services, encourages all students, faculty, and staff to receive their COVID-19 vaccine(s) as soon as possible. With eligibility now open to everyone 16 and older, and a solid supply of the vaccine available from several providers in the state, you have options to get vaccinated soon.

Memphis

  • Visit covid19.memphistn.gov for a list of public vaccination locations, information about the vaccines, first and second doses, and whether appointments are necessary.
  • Individuals without internet access can call 901.222.7468 (SHOT) or 615.552.1998 from 9:00 am – 6:30 pm, seven days a week. 


Chattanooga

  • Visit the Hamilton County Health Department website for FAQs and appointment information, a vaccine data dashboard, and to schedule first or second appointments.

We understand you may have questions about the COVID-19 vaccine and are unsure about getting vaccinated.

University Health Services has a well-educated staff of primary care providers who are available to answer any questions you might have about the vaccine. Please call University Health Services at 901.448.5630 to speak with one of our primary care providers from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and 2:00 – 5:00 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
