Interesting Collapsible Silver Cups

I have always admired the silversmithing skills required to create collapsible telescopic or traveling silver Tot Cups and Beakers. In particular the accuracy that would be needed to cut or stamp the different graduated sections to size and then neatly butt solder them together in a way that rendered the piece functional and watertight, or least capable of holding liquid without spillage, is really quite astonishing. The individual pieces would have been cut from a pattern, but that pattern would have had to have been drawn using quite complicated geometric calculations, and these precise measurements were achieved by smiths in an era before they would have had recourse to digital vernier calipers or the like. I think that the results that they managed to achieve are really quite impressive.
