What's Happening at the Magnet?

A huge
thank you
to our
science fair volunteers!
Thank you so much to our admin, teachers, judges, parents, friends & families of parents who pitched in, and everyone in this community who supported
the fair! We could not have done it without you
and we're so grateful and thrilled that we all
came together and made it happen.
Our CyberPatriot teams
just finished their season and were
incredibly successful! Out of 854 registered middle school teams in America,
team DeltaPhoenix finished in 215th place,

team TechnoPhoenix in 53rd place,
and team DigitalPhoenix

Portola Middle School. The teams consisted of all grades and instruction was provided online after school by Jay Gehringer, the coach of North Hollywood High School’s 3-time
National Champion CyberPatriot teams.
Congratulations to all of our students who participated and those who received certificates at the MUN Conference at Granada Hills CHS!

Part 2: Climbing & Extreme Science

Thursday, March 3rd, at 6pm!
We are taking science outdoors in our exciting 3 part speaker series so we can show kids what’s out there and how to apply what you learn in a classroom!

Climbing & Extreme Science:
Climbing mountains is challenging both physically and mentally. Doing science at high altitudes, even more so. Hear about projects
on peaks in the Himalaya (Nepal),
on Mt.Kilmanjaro (Tanzania),
Aconcagua (Argentina),
Ojos del Salado (Chile), and more,
studying the impacts of natural and man-made pollution.  Find out how you can get involved, too; with our educational
and research experiences!
