Welcome to the December edition of the Housing Hub News!

In this final edition of Housing Hub news for 2021, we thought we’d take a moment to thank you, our community, for your support in 2021 and celebrate some of our achievements.

When we created the Housing Hub, you told us that you wanted it to be so much more than just a website to search for housing. We have worked hard to make it a place to connect, learn and get real support to move your housing journey forward to find the home that is right for you.

This year, together we have...

Talked to over 1,400 people on our SDA Advice Line to help people search for accessible housing and navigate the NDIS

Met with over 1,700 people with disability, family members, support coordinators, health professionals, support workers and many others across our sector to connect and learn about housing options for people with disability

Supported over 150 people to apply for SDA funding and receive an offer for a new SDA home

Seen over 7,200 properties listed to date, with over 1,800 properties live now across all states and territories

Had more than 130,000 people use the Housing Hub this year, creating over 137,000 searches for a new home

Launching Support Coordination Services

The Housing Hub team is excited to announce that we will be offering housing related Support Coordination services, commencing early 2022. To learn more, visit our Support Coordination Services page or contact us on 1300 61 64 63.

Understanding SDA Workshop

The Housing Hub is running free workshops about Specialist Disability Accommodation.

These sessions are for people with disability and their families to find out about Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). It's a great opportunity to ask questions and learn how to work out if SDA is right for you from our expert team.

NDIS Housing Options Webinar for Service Providers

This free session is for Service Providers such as support coordinators, allied health professionals and housing providers. During the live webinar you will have the chance to learn about NDIS Housing options and support models from our team of experts.

Hear stories from people with disability and their journey to finding the right home. You will also have the opportunity and ask questions and connect with the team.

New Housing Seeker Snapshot

The second edition of our Housing Seeker Snapshot has been published today!

This report releases six months of Housing Hub seeker data in a summarised way to inform the market. By doing this, the Housing Hub is working to make sure that the needs and wants of housing seekers are driving the market.

A few interesting takeaways from this snapshot are that:

Almost half of all Housing Hub seekers would like to live alone.
Two-thirds of seekers reported that they wish to move immediately.
38% of housing seekers indicated that they need 24-hour support at the property, while 28% of seekers did not require external support as they intend to bring their own support.

End of year period

The Housing Hub will be open throughout December and January except for the public holidays. We will have a reduced staff at this time while many of our team take a well deserved break.
