May 2020

At Scotinform we’re all about collecting research data so that our clients can use it to make good decisions. Whilst your place of work might be closed and your staff disparate, there has arguably never been a time that requires better decision making. We thought it might be helpful to set out a few ways you can use research data at this time.

Reflection

We're finding that the current situation has allowed some of our clients to step back from the day to day and reflect on the intelligence they've already collected. We've been lucky enough to work with some of you on a range of projects over the years. This could be an opportunity to reflect on the work you've done, discuss how it fits together and understand how it can be used to plan for the future. We'd be delighted to help you facilitate this - just get in touch!

Scotinform Cultural Survey

We have designed the Scotinform Cultural Survey to help our clients plan for the future. Covering museums, galleries, wildlife attractions, theatres and gardens, we are asking audiences in Scotland what they are missing and what they think about visiting in the future. The findings will be made available free of charge to all. If you are able to help by completing the survey, or distributing it to your own mailing list, you can find the survey here. (full link: https://wh1.snapsurveys.com/s.asp?k=158866939790 ). Thank you.

Proving Your Worth

We don’t know what we’ve got till it’s gone. If your venue is closed or you’re unable to deliver your usual services, your community will be missing you. This is a good time to demonstrate the difference you make to your audiences, perhaps in terms of social impact, health and wellbeing or learning outcomes. The results could be used to communicate with funders and stakeholders, to plan fundraising campaigns, and to direct online activity and engagement.

Preparing for Afterwards

We run online training sessions for staff so that they understand the importance of evaluation and how they might embed it into their own working practice. This can be developed further into specific methodologies and skills if required. Remember that furloughed staff can still undertake training, so please get in touch if this is of interest to you.
