Welcome all

How was the start of your resolutions? If you've had a hiccup or two, don't lose hope. Opportunities to change don't come around just once a year, everyday is the start of your resolutions and you get 365 opportunities to make it happen!

My mother moved this month which brought my entire family together to help out. During the move, I heard a children's joke that was just too good not to share:

Nephew: Why did the chicken cross the road?

Me: I'm not sure, why?

Nephew: To get to an idiot's house across the street.

Me: Okay...

Nephew: Knock, knock.

Me: Who's there?

Nephew: The chicken.

Me: Well played...

The move went well and it was great to see the family. Let's begin this months' fascinating finds and remember, you can give this a share through any of the icons below if you enjoyed it.

Stop Wasting Your Life: Make Tiny Gains Instead (4 min. Read) - I wrote this with resolutions in mind. If you want to change your lifestyle however you're struggling to START, this is worth your time.

Articles I'm Enjoying...

What Is Freedom? - There's a famous story by the Greek philosopher Plato (commonly referred to as Plato's Cave) that compares the effect of education and the lack of it on our nature. In this article the author, Vincent Kavaloski, modernises Plato’s Cave.
10 Powerful Things I've Learned In The Last Decade - Short read but potent lessons.

Stand out: "Focus is one of our most important resources. We only have so much we can actually focus on, and we try to focus on all of it. If we learn to use our focus more intentionally, it changes our entire life. We make good use of our time and energy. We get more meaningful work done."

The Useful & The Interesting

Octopus Dreaming

Watch the brilliant colour changes of a sleeping octopus as it dreams. We're more alike then we think.

We Were Never On The Moon By Ken Nash (Poem) - I don't want to say much about this, instead you should read and digest it for your own interpretation.
A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier By Ishmael Beah - One of the best books I've ever read. A true story set during the civil war of Sierra Leone where a boy is separated from his family, left to fend for himself and eventually is forced into becoming a soldier at the age of 13. The story is filled with unfathomable evil but also shows us that even in the worst circumstances, redemption is possible.

Quote Of The Month

"If you really want to be great at something, you have to truly care about it. If you want to be great in a particular area, you have to obsess over it. A lot of people say they want to be great, but they’re not willing to make the sacrifices necessary to achieve greatness. They have other concerns, whether important or not, and they spread themselves out. That’s totally fine. After all, greatness is not for everybody."
- Kobe Bryant
