Dear parents,

Happy Family Day weekend! We have finally recovered from Nativity Play mania and are back to our regular lessons. For the past few weeks we have been growing in love and knowledge of Christ by becoming familiar with the major events in His life.  Tomorrow we will continue with this project. Make sure you check out the timeline of the life of Christ we will be displaying in the parish hall.

I have also resumed the weekly Junior Church homework so please make sure your child(ren) brings their workbook with them on Sunday mornings.

Sunday, February 23, Thinking Day & Pancake Lunch
This worldwide celebration of the Guiding and Scouting movements and their founders Lord and Lady Baden-Powell has been a fixture at St. Olave’s for decades. We will be joined at the 10:30 service by the Guides and Scouts who meet at St Olave’s. There will be lots of children visiting so it would be great to have as many of our regular Junior Church members as possible present to welcome visiting school-aged children to Junior Church instead of staying upstairs.

The service will be followed by our annual Pancake Lunch, in advance of Shrove Tuesday. Tickets are available at the door, $6 for adults, $3 for children or a special family rate of $15. Bring a friend!

Ash Wednesday, February 26, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Registration is now open for the annual Ash Wednesday Exploration Day at St. James Cathedral. Young people ages 6-14 from around the diocese are invited for a day of exploration, fun and learning for Ash Wednesday as we explore seven essential practices to help us follow Jesus through Lent and life. The $5 fee per child will be covered by the parish. I will be on hand to supervise any children from St. Olave’s who are interested in attending so please let me know if you have registered at the link above or if you are available to carpool.

Finally, through Lent we will be working on an outreach project. Stay tuned for details!

As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or comments at
children@stolaves.ca.

Sincerely,

Martha Riddell
