Dear Junior Church families,

A reminder that the Nativity play is going to be performed on Sunday, December 15.  Rehearsals will begin this Sunday, November 24 and include December 1 and 8, with the dress rehearsal and cast breakfast Saturday, December 14 from 9:30 to 11:30. All are welcome to take part! I hope to see everyone at church this week if possible so that we can finalize the cast. However, if your child cannot be there this Sunday but would like to be in the play, please let me know by clicking the red bar below. Any children who do not wish to be in the play are still welcome to join us at Junior Church and help with costumes or other aspects of the production.

My child wants to be in the Nativity Play!

As you will have read in the weekly e-blast, the annual toy drive will be held between now and December 8. We are asking that Junior Church families who wish to participate donate new, unwrapped toys that will be delivered to our local firehall and given to children in our city who might not otherwise receive gifts this Christmas. Please leave your gift on the pew in the parish hall to be collected.

Those of you who were at the parents meeting earlier this month will recall that two Sundays from now, on December 1, we will be trying something new when we go up to receive a blessing. Instead of going back downstairs we will stay upstairs, sitting together near the front, to participate in the end of the Holy Communion service. In preparation students will be learning to sing the Lord’s Prayer and the Gloria so that they are able to actively participate. It might be helpful to speak with your children beforehand about this change and about expectations of them in church. Though it may take some time to get used to it, I think this will be a very positive thing for the parish.

Please pray for our Junior Church programme and all its members, that they may grow in knowledge and love of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Youth Group
Members of the Youth Group were extremely helpful serving meals and selling beeswax cloth at the recent Christmas Craft Show, helping raise $170 for future youth activities. Two members of our Youth Group are among the class being prepared for confirmation in January!
