SPORTS LEADERS AT NGHS
Newall Green High School runs a ‘Sports Leaders’ programme for students.  A Sports Leader’s role is to help organise any sporting events that are delivered in school such as Sports Day, inter-form sports week or even primary school tournaments which are regularly held at NGHS.

This academic year NGHS Sports Leaders have already supported the organisation of the inter form competitions for all NGHS year groups, have run a girls Year 3, 4, 5, and 6 football tournament that is held at NGHS 5 times throughout the year. They ran a primary school Year 5 and 6 mixed Basketball tournament which involved multiple primary schools from across Greater Manchester and they have also helped organise and run a swimming gala which was held at the Forum for over 15 schools and over 200 children.

What’s next for the Sports Leaders?  In the Summer term, the Manchester FA are delivering a training day for them to boost their knowledge of leadership and management in Sport.  At the moment, plans for NGHS whole school Sports Day are underway and it will be the responsibility of the Sports Leaders to make the event run smoothly and get each year group organised for the track and field races.

NATIONAL AUTISM WEEK
As part of National Autism Week, students have been finding out facts about Autism and Autistic people during form time and sharing their knowledge and understanding with one another.  Posters have been displayed all around the school to raise awareness, and a quiz took place.  Taylor in Year 8 won the quiz and received this Easter Egg as the prize.  A cake sale took place at break and all money raised will go towards a local Parent and Child Autism Support Group, the final total will be shared on our website after Easter but we are already on £92!
NGHS DESIGN TEAM COLLABORATE WITH TIMPSONS FOUNDATION
Students visited the Timspon Foundation to begin a collaborative project to revamp part of the NGHS corridor, they took a tour of the buildings & recorded their initial ideas in their personalised sketchbooks and through photographs. They were also given equipment to measure the space they will be working on and got to meet lots of Timpson staff working in their brilliantly creative office spaces. Can't wait to begin the next stage of the project!
