Hello, friends! Last weekend, my girlfriend's son graduated from Navy boot camp. We went up to Chicago for it and ended up spending a little bit of time touristing in the city. It reminded me of my first time on my own in Chicago when I was in high school. The city seemed so impossibly large. Although I've experienced a bit more of the world since then, the Chicago Loop still awes me every time. The SearsWillis Tower is nearly 8 times as tall as the tallest building in the county where I grew up (and that building is set to be demolished this year). It's 6.5 times as tall as the tallest building in my current county. I love the sense of wonder I get living just far enough away for "the big city" to not become routine.
