Federation News

Federation is very grateful to Margaret Schreiber as we bid a sad farewell after her nearly two years as the Ann Arbor area's inaugural LIFE & LEGACY® Manager. We wish Margaret all the best in her future endeavors.

Under Margaret's leadership of the LIFE & LEGACY program, 11 Jewish organizations in Washtenaw County obtained more than 300 promises of after-lifetime gifts, which will secure the long-term financial sustainability of our local Jewish community. This generosity represents more than $9 million in expected future funds. Such vital work on behalf of our community would not have been possible without Margaret's tenacity to launch the program and ensure its success, especially in the midst of the pandemic.

With Margaret's departure, Federation is seeking a creative, dynamic collaborator to join its energetic team as LIFE & LEGACY Manager.

Hebrew Free Loan

This Man is Begging you to ask Him for Money
Let the record show that David Contorer, Executive Director of Hebrew Free Loan (HFL) Detroit, does not want to be the subject of an interview. But you can learn more about him and the work of HFL in a piece from the Jewish Federation of Metro Detroit.

The organization's name might be misleading: The local HFL is based in Metro Detroit, but it is really for Jews across Michigan, including the Ann Arbor area, to apply for interest-free loans. You might need a confidential way to get out of debt, a way to pay for higher education, or seed money to finally start your own small business - HFL helps with all of the above.

Jewish Agency for Israel

After the Rockets - 6 Months Later
Thankfully, most of us here in Michigan will never know the horror of being in our homes when a rocket turns everything to pieces in the blink of an eye. But for our fellow Jews in Southern Israel, many suddenly found themselves without a home – or worse – as a result of the rocket fire from Gaza this past May.
Hear their powerful personal stories and how the Jewish Agency provided care and support to rebuild their lives. Funded by Jewish communities all over the world, including us here in greater Ann Arbor, the Jewish Agency strengthens the ties between Israel and Jews around the world.
