Myanmar junta enforces curfew

• Myanmar’s military rulers have announced a crack down on those that oppose their takeover by banning peaceful public protests in two of the country’s largest cities
• The restrictions were ordered after police fired water cannons at protestors in the capital city of Naypyitaw
• Rallies and gatherings of more than five people in addition to motorized processions are banned. Additionally an 8pm to 4am curfew has been imposed in Yangon and Mandalay

House Democrats' stimulus package excludes families earning more than $200,000

• House Democrats have rejected a proposal from Republicans to narrow the requirements for receiving stimulus payments and plan to move forward with the $1,400 stimulus per person
• Per the Democrats proposal, the payments would not include individuals earning more than $100,000 or couples earning more than $200,000
• The GOP proposal included smaller payments of $1,000 for individuals earning less than $40,000 per year and couples earning less than $80,000 per year

• Tesla announced that the company has purchased $1.5 billion worth of bitcoin
• The company will also start accepting bitcoin as a payment method for its products
• Tesla CEO Elon Musk has played a role in boosting cryptocurrency prices through Twitter

Facebook to remove posts claiming vaccines cause autism

• Facebook plans to expand on the list of false claims pertaining to Covid-19 and vaccines that it will remove from its platform
• The company has already been removing debunked Covid-19 claims since last December
• Facebook clarified that this enforcement will take place during the Covid health emergency

Hacker tries to poison Florida city by hacking water treatment system

• The hacker, who was able to access the water treatment system in Oldsmar, Fl, tried to increase the levels of sodium hydroxide in the city’s water supply
• The incident occurred last Friday when an operator noticed the intrusions as the hacker attempted to increase the sodium hydroxide levels to more than one 100 times the standard
• The operator immediately reduced the levels to normal and there was no adverse effect to the city’s water supply

Ron Wright is first Congress member to die of Covid

• Rep. Ron Wright (R-TX) passed away at the age of 67 a week after contracting Covid-19
• Wright passed on Sunday. He had previously undergone treatment for lung cancer after he was diagnosed in 2018
• The Congressman and his wife were hospitalized for the past two weeks due to the virus
