Roger Stone calls for Trump to declare martial law if he loses election

  • Convicted felon and former Trump advisor Roger Stone called upon Donald Trump to “declare martial law” in order to seize power in the event that he loses the November general election
  • The results will only be legitimate if the “real winner” (Trump) takes office, regardless of what the votes say, Stone stated
  • Stone also encouraged the idea that under martial law and the Insurrection Act, Trump would be able to arrest “anyone that can be proven to be involved in illegal activity.” Several names that Stone suggested include Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, and the Clintons


Yellow vest protesters return to Paris

  • In their first appearance since lockdown began, the yellow vests protesters took to the streets of the French capital
  • As a result of the demonstrations, at least 256 protesters were taken into police custody for questioning while an additional 90 were issued warnings
  • The yellow vest movement, which began in November 2018, is a vocal opposition to the plans to increase fuel prices, with a combined hundreds of thousands of protesters taking to the streets

Louisiana governor declares state of emergency

  • In preparation of Tropical Storm Sally, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards declared a state of emergency on Saturday
  • In a statement on Saturday, Edwards claimed that the storm is expected to strengthen into a hurricane that has the potential to make landfall early this week
  • Tropical Storm Sally’s expected landfall comes just two weeks after Louisiana was hit by Hurricane Laura, which left millions of dollars of damages in its wake


Rapper T.I. charged by SEC

  • Clifford Joseph Harris, better known by his stage name T.I., was charged by the Securities and Exchange Commission this past weekend on grounds of promoting a fraudulent cryptocurrency
  • An SEC regulator stated in its complaint that T.I. sold cryptocurrency tokens using his Twitter account, encouraging followers to invest in the 2017 FLiK coin offering while also falsely claiming to be a part-owner
  • Without an admission of wrongdoing, T.I. agreed to settle for $75,000


Apple event slated for September 15th

  • Apple has confirmed that it will host a launch event on September 15th at 10:00 AM PST that can be accessed via Apple’s website. The event is expected to center on the presentation of a new iPhone
  • Also anticipated is the reveal of the Apple Watch Series 6 alongside a new WatchOS version
  • The Apple One bundle is speculated to make an appearance at the event, which is believed to be an all-inclusive subscription bundle that packages Apple TV Plus, Apple News Plus, and Apple Arcade under one monthly payment


AstraZeneca trial resumes

  • Following a pause in testing after a patient in the study showed symptoms consistent with transverse myelitis, AstraZeneca has moved forward with a resuming of their coronavirus vaccine research
  • The World Health Organization claims that nearly 180 vaccine candidates are currently being tested worldwide, though none have completed the clinical trials yet
  • AstraZeneca’s move to phase three testing involves roughly 30,000 participants in the United States, the UK, Brazil, and South Africa
