YouTube cracks down on QAnon

  • YouTube updated its policy on Thursday to “prohibit content that targets an individual or group with conspiracy theories that have been used to justify real-world violence”
  • The video hosting platform said it would ban content that “threatens or harasses” someone by suggesting they are complicit in QAnon or Pizzagate
  • The move comes after Facebook banned QAnon accounts from its platform last week and Twitter suppressed QAnon accounts and content in July

Study finds eight million more in poverty

  • Eight million people have fallen into poverty since May following a drop by four million due to aid from the Cares Act at the pandemic’s start, according to researchers at Columbia University
  • Researchers using a differing definition of poverty at the University of Chicago and Notre Dame found that six million people have become poor in the last three months
  • While the Democratic House passed the more than $3 trillion HEROES Act in May, the Republican Senate refused to approve it, and Congress has been unable to agree on a second aid package since


Aviation staffer on Biden campaign tests positive

  • The Biden campaign announced Thursday that an individual that flew with the candidate to Ohio on Monday and Florida on Tuesday tested positive for COVID-19
  • The campaign said that Biden and the infected person did not have any close contact or passing and he is not required to isolate
  • The discovery resulted from contact tracing after Kamala Harris’ communications director and a non-staff flight crew member tested positive Wednesday night
