COVID-19 surges in Arizona and Florida

  • Coronavirus cases have massively surged in Arizona and Florida this past weekend, with Florida registering over 4,000 new cases on Friday
  • Many are directing blame towards the ill-planned re-openings of both states, and the reluctance of citizens to properly wear masks in public spaces
  • Going against the perceived statistics, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis claims that the uptick in cases is simply due to increased testing


Deadly stabbing attack in England

  • A stabbing spree in a park in Reading, England has left three dead, according to police on the scene
  • Dean Haydon, the U.K.’s coordinator for counter-terrorism policing, said that counter-terror detectives were taking over the investigation, and treating it as a terrorist attack
  • The suspect is in custody and believed to be a 25-year-old Libyan man


Apple to close stores again due to coronavirus

  • Apple will close eleven stores across Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Arizona due to the recent surge in cases
  • The company stated: “we take this step with an abundance of caution as we closely monitor the situation and we look forward to having our teams and customers back as soon as possible”
  • Apple has been one of the forefront companies for transmission prevention, requiring masks in their stores and frequent temperature checks


Twitter, Facebook remove video from Trump’s account

  • Facebook and Twitter have removed a video deemed manipulated and posted on President Trump’s account after receiving a copyright complaint
  • The manipulated video shows a black toddler running away from a white toddler, with a CNN banner reading “terrified toddler runs from racist baby”
  • The original video, which went viral last year, sees the two toddlers running toward each other on the sidewalk so they can hug


“Tiz the Law” wins Belmont Stakes

  • The three-year-old colt and heavy favorite pulled away late to win the 152nd Belmont Stakes in New York
  • The race was held without fans for the first time ever, and betters were instructed to place bets via mobile phone
