Trump supporters rally in D.C.

  • Thousands of protestors, many of whom were maskless, gathered in Washington D.C. on Saturday to protest the result of the 2020 Presidential election, of which Joe Biden was declared the winner
  • As nightfall approached, the scene grew violent as four people were stabbed by possible Proud Boys members. The victims were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries
  • Notably, the group of Trump supporters were heard chanting “Destroy the GOP”


Germany to go into national lockdown

  • Starting next week and continuing through the Christmas season, Germany will implement a “hard” lockdown in order to restrict virus transmission
  • Beginning next Wednesday, all non-essential shops, services and schools will close until January 10th, with Christmas Day gatherings reduced from 10 people to only five from two different households
  • German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz has pledged economic help for all businesses affected by the lockdown


COVID-19 vaccine shipment rollout begins

  • The first rounds of shipment for widespread coronavirus vaccine doses have begun this past weekend to distribution centers across the United States
  • Batches of the Pfizer vaccine will set in motion the largest effort in American history at a critical point of the pandemic that has killed 1.6 million globally
  • Federal officials say the first shipments of Pfizer’s vaccine will be staggered, arriving in 145 distribution centers Monday, with an additional 425 sites getting shipments Tuesday, and the remaining 66 on Wednesday


Sony refunds customers after release of marquee game

  • Sony is refunding customers that purchased the newly released Cyberpunk 2077 due to poor game performance on the PlayStation 4 system
  • Long awaited, Cyberpunk 2077 released on December 10th by Polish developers CD Projekt Red to Playstation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC
  • In the days following release, players have reported game crashes, bugs, and unstable gameplay

Bill Gates: presidential transition is complicating covid-19 vaccine rollout

  • Bill Gates stated on Sunday that the tumultuous transition of power in the United States has complicated the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine across the nation
  • "The transition is complicating, but the new administration is willing to rely on actual experts and not attack those experts," Gates, the co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation said
  • The Gates Foundation plans to commit m$250 million to support the "research, development and equitable delivery" of tools to fight Covid-19, including tests, treatments and vaccines


Sarah Fuller becomes first woman to score in NCAA football

  • Sarah Fuller became the first woman to score a point in a Power 5 football game on Saturday, kicking an extra point after a touchdown in a game against Tennessee
  • Fuller plays as the goalkeeper on the Vanderbilt women’s soccer team, and was asked to fill in as kicker on the football team after COVID left the other team kickers on the sidelines
  • Fuller also became the first woman to play in a Power 5 game several weeks ago when she delivered a kickoff against Missouri
