Romney: Trump has ‘blind spot’ for Russia

  • Following a widespread data breach at the hands of Russia, Senator Mitt Romney stated that Donald Trump has a ‘blind spot’ towards Russia and its actions
  • U.S. officials and researchers say they believe at least 40 organizations including many U.S. government agencies have been infiltrated and thousands exposed in what appears to be one of the biggest such hacks ever uncovered
  • Trump finally acknowledged the hackings on Saturday, nearly a full week after it was first reported

Countries cancel flights from UK

  • Flights from the UK into nearby nations have been halted as of Sunday amid mounting fears over a new strain of coronavirus first identified in Britain
  • Austria, Belgium, Italy and the Netherlands announced bans on Sunday, with others expected to follow
  • The World Health Organization said Sunday that it was in “close contact” with British officials over the new strain, which has now also been detected in the Netherlands, Denmark, and Australia

Apple temporarily closes all California stores

  • As virus cases continue to mount, Apple has temporarily closed 53 of its stores in California, including those in the LA and San Francisco areas
  • On Thursday the state announced that Southern California had reached capacity for intensive care beds
  • This marks the second time that Apple has closed its stores, also having done so in late March at the beginning of the pandemic

Cyberpunk 2077 pulled from PlayStation store

  • After years of waiting, Cyberpunk 2077 released at a near unplayable state on Xbox One and PS4. As a result, Sony has pulled the game from their online store, offering refunds to each customer that purchased the media
  • Sony’s move comes just days after Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red stated that people unsatisfied with their purchase should request a refund from their console developer. Due to Sony’s stringent refund policy, many who bought digital versions of the game from the PlayStation Store were unable to get refunds
  • CD Projekt Red has committed to patching the game and bringing it to a playable state

Biden reveals climate and energy teams

  • President-elect Joe Biden named his nominees for climate and energy posts, touting his team as the correct people to lead the government’s "ambitious" plan to address climate change
  • Biden touted his team’s experience and diversity, describing it as "barrier-busting," and said his nominations signified the seriousness with which his administration would tackle “the existential threat of our time: climate change.”

SPORTS 🏈

College Football Playoff teams announced

  • The four colleges that will compete for the championship in the College Football Playoff are: Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Notre Dame
  • Clemson and Alabama have an opportunity to set up a fourth championship game rematch in the past five years, as the two dynasties fight for superiority
  • Alabama will face Notre Dame in the Sugar bowl, while Clemson and Ohio State will face off in the Rose Bowl
