  • A notice had been given to Paxton’s office reporting a “potential violation of law” by Paxton
  • Paxton’s office has denied the allegations and claimed that the allegations were intended to obstruct an inquiry into supposed criminal behavior by other officials

Paris faces more Covid-19 restrictions

  • Paris and its surrounding suburbs will be placed under “maximum alert” as coronavirus cases rise in the city
  • Bars in the city will close on Tuesday as a part of the new restrictions intended to curb the spread of the virus

Bristol-Myers acquires MyoKardia for $13 billion

  • Bristol-Myers Squibb announced that they will be acquiring MyoKardia for $13 billion to boost their portfolio of heart disease therapeutics and ease their dependence on cancer drugs
  • The deal follows BMS’ purchase of Celgene last year for $74 billion, which marked the biggest pharmaceutical deal ever
  • MyoKardia’s shares jumped 58.5% to $221.25 after already having nearly doubled in value this year

Apple sues recycling partner for reselling iPhones, iPads and Watches

  • Apple is suing its former recycling partner GEEP Canada for supposedly stealing and reselling around 103,845 iPhones, iPads, and Watches that were supposed to be disassembled
  • Apple sent the recycling company more than 500,000 iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches between January 2015 and December 2017 but found 18 percent of those devices to be still accessing the internet through cellular networks
  • Apple is looking to obtain $31 million from its former partner, but the recycling firm is denying any wrongdoing by claiming that three employees stole the devices on their own behalf

Trump returns to White House

  • President Trump left Walter Reed National Military Center late Monday evening after spending several days there being treated for Covid-19. He plans to receive the remainder of his treatment from the White House
  • The president has received doses of Remdesivir, an antiviral drug that is FDA approved to treat the coronavirus
  • In a video tweeted by the president, he references the virus: "One thing that's for certain: don't let it dominate you. Don't be afraid of it. You're going to beat it"

White House blocks new coronavirus vaccine guidelines

  • White House officials are preventing the enforcement of strict new federal guidelines for the emergency release of a Covid-19 vaccine
  • The White House is blocking a provision that would all but ensure that no vaccine would be approved before the election on Nov. 3rd
  • The FDA is looking at other options to guarantee that the vaccines meet the guidelines
