• Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is being accused of letting politics play a role in the process of COVID-19 vaccine administration

• DeSantis was asked several questions by reporters at a vaccination event located in Lakewood Ranch, an upscale community on Florida’s Gulf Coast, where he responded with a threat to move the distribution effort somewhere else
• The Governor stated that the 3,000 shots made available for residents of Lakewood Ranch were an addition to the county’s typical limit

Igloo caves in, killing 7-year-old Switzerland boy

• The incident occurred in the Switzerland town of Tarasp on Tuesday after the boy and his father built the igloo that collapsed 
• The father was able to free himself after being buried and was able to locate his son in the snow 15 minutes later with the help of others
• The boy died from severe injuries shortly after being flown to a hospital in Chur

Applebee’s releases virtual chicken wing restaurant

• The dining chain is planning to launch their new online-only brand, featuring Cheeto-flavored wings as their main menu item
• PepsiCo, the owner of Cheetos, has assisted in the development of the Cheeto wings recipe
• The idea of a digital brand came to light after the suffering of casual restaurants as a result of the pandemic. The chains hope utilizing these virtual brands will increase sales and improve the use of kitchens where more customers are opting for delivery
• The sales of Applebee’s had decreased by a steady 13% in the third quarter of 2020 due to the nationwide shutdown

Microsoft confirms Windows 10 21H1 update

• A Microsoft Tech Community blog post confirmed the official release of the Windows 10 21H1 as of Monday revealing that the update will be “minor”
• The update will be based on the 2004 code, as drivers already meeting the Windows 10 2004 requirements will not require new signatures
• IT pros have become familiar with Microsoft releasing a larger Windows 10 update in the spring with a following minor update in the fall
• The 21H1 Beta test build or Release Preview have not yet been released, but are likely to be delivered relatively soon

At least 23 dead as disastrous winter storm rolls through Texas  

• The storm took the lives of residents in Louisiana, Kentucky, and Missouri, as well as Texas, while also damaging COVID-19 inoculation centers restricting the supply of vaccines
• The aftermath of the disaster left more than 3.4 million people in Texas without power, including 1.4 million in the Houston metropolitan area
• Lina Hidalgo, top executive of Harris County, Texas, expressed that it is necessary to prepare for prolonged problems regarding the power outages
• President Biden has offered administration assistance in a call with governors of the impacted states, pledging to provide emergency resources where they are needed

• Harvard researchers have developed a new theory that a piece of a comet crashed into Earth 66-million years ago, creating the Chicxulub crater that wiped out the population of dinosaurs and other species
• The Chicxulub crater stands on the Yucatán Peninsula of modern-day Mexico and extends about 110 miles
• The original hypothesis by scientists claims the extinction of dinosaurs was due to an asteroid
