If you haven't already been sucked into the abyss that is reading about the Met Gala, here's your opportunity to do so:

"What is the Met Gala?" you ask.
Look no further.
"It sounds like a big party for celebrities with extra strange costumes – who goes to this thing?"
So many people.
"Boy, that sure sounds like it would cost a pretty penny."
You're correct.
"But where was Rihanna??"
That, unfortunately, we can't tell you

Michael Cohen Begins Three-Year Sentence 🔒

Off to prison

On Monday, Michael Cohen, President Trump’s former lawyer, began his three-year sentence for crimes pertaining to campaign finance violations related to hush-money payments. He will be serving his sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Otisville, northwest of New York City.

...prison or retreat?

Cohen will be placed at a minimum security camp that many claim has become a haven for white-collar criminals. With a full-time rabbi and kosher dining options, the prison has been rated as one of America’s cushiest prisons. Cohen will be serving time alongside Jersey Shore’s ‘The Situation’ and Fyre Festival’s Billy McFarland.

The left focuses on Cohen’s recent comments, made shortly before beginning his sentence. They emphasize Cohen’s statement that, “there still remains much to be told (about the president).” The left insinuates that we don’t know the whole truth as Cohen has not revealed everything he knows.

The right focuses on the specific prison that Cohen will be serving his sentence in and its conditions. They label the minimum security prison as “cushy,” highlighting that it's referred to as a “Jewish heaven” and that is “a great place for white-collar Jewish guys.”

Where's the common ground?

Articles from the left and right have reported this story with different tones, emphasizing different facts. However, both do acknowledge the moderate prison environment awaiting Cohen as well as his comments regarding having more to say regarding the president.

Mueller: To Testify or Not to Testify, Trump isn’t Sure

Mueller... Mueller...?

Robert Mueller was appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to serve as special counsel for the Department of Justice (DoJ) in May 2017 to investigate into “any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump, and any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation.” He submitted his report to the DoJ last month. There has been a firestorm around the redacted version of the report that was released by Attorney General William Barr.

To testify?

The House (controlled by Democrats) had openly spoken about inviting Mueller to testify, to address some of the statements made in the released redacted report. Barr said that he “has no objection” to Mueller testifying and last week Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that testimony from Mueller was “up to our attorney general.” However, on Twitter this Sunday, Trump made an about-face Tweeting “Bob Mueller should not testify. No redos for the Dems!”

The left takes a clear stance that (1) Mueller should testify and (2) Trump’s reversal should not go unanswered. The left uses strong language, like calling Trump a “dictator,” to express their views on the matter and to stress how he has changed his stance on several issues, hurting his credibility.

Few news outlets on the right reported on Mueller testifying and even fewer reported that Trump changed his stance on the issue. For instance, Fox News makes no mention of Trump’s change until mid-way through their article and the NY Post goes further by defending Trump’s position.

Where's the common ground?

Generally speaking, both sides agree that Mueller has every right to be called to testify before Congress, but they diverge on the justification and rationale for his testimony. Those on the left say they want Mueller to address some of the concerning findings in his report, while many on the right say that the left just isn’t content to let the investigation conclude despite the seemingly favorable result for the President.
