Musician generates every possible melody using algorithm to curb copyright lawsuits

  • Damien Riehl, a musician and lawyer, has used an algorithm to create every conceivable melody in an effort to curb music copyright lawsuit claims
  • Riehl worked with programmer Noah Rubin to build a software that is capable of generating 300,000 melodies per second, resulting in a catalogue of 68 billion 8-note melodies
  • The melodies were then copyrighted and released into the public domain in the hope of suppressing litigious musicians


Washington state confirms 4 more coronavirus deaths as total rises to 6
