CDC to extend halt on evictions

  • In collaboration with an Executive Order from President Trump, the CDC is drawing upon its authority to halt evictions until the end of 2020 as an attempt to slow the spread of COVID
  • The provisions under the CARES act will apply to people making less than $99K per year, as well as halting evictions of folks living in federally backed units and federally backed single-family mortgages
  • These provisions act as an answer to the questions about the CARES act homeowners and renters raised two months ago when their evictions were initially put on pause

UAE-Israel deal criticized by Iran

  • The political treaty, nicknamed the “Abraham Accord,” was criticized harshly by the leader of the Palestinian Liberation Organization and Iran, with the American arbiters being criticized for spreading Zionism in the Middle East
  • Qatari news network Al Jazeera called the Accord a “betrayal” to the Islamic world
  • However, the Iranian politician’s claims were swept aside by the UAE’s Foreign Ministry Official Jamal al-Musharakh who stated that "the path to peace and prosperity is not through incitement and hate speech”

Trump’s Kenosha visit backs law enforcement

  • In the Wisconsin city where Jacob Blake was paralyzed by a police officer’s bullets, Trump visited city leaders and the national guard members stationed there to applaud them for keeping the city from “burning to the ground”
  • Within the visit, Trump also applauded his supporters who met anti-racist protestors in the streets with live firearms to "protect" the area from looting and burning
  • In a press conference held with two Black ministers from Kenosha, Trump declined to acknowledge systemic racism as an instigator of the protests occurring across Kenosha
