  • The US Embassy in Seoul has removed a large BLM banner at the request of the State Department leadership in addition to removing a rainbow flag celebrating LGBTQ pride
  • Senior State Department leadership requested the embassy to take down the BLM sign that was hung up by Ambassador Harry Harris
  • The request, which came from the department’s 7th floor where Mike Pompeo’s offices are located, stated that BLM is a non-profit organization and the US government does not advocate contributions to the group or promote any specific organization

US Supreme Court ruling hands LGBTQ community historic win

  • The US Supreme Court has ruled that workers cannot be fired on the basis of being gay or transgender in a monumental win for the LGBTQ community
  • The 6-3 decision was authored by Justice Neil Gorsuch, a conservative justice appointed by Trump
  • Until this ruling workers in about half the country were protected by local laws prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity, but there was no federal law offering similar protections

T-Mobile hit by nationwide service outage

  • T-Mobile US was impacted by a major service outage affecting thousands of customers across several states
  • As a result of the network’s problems, customers of other service providers faced issues connecting to T-Mobile users, leading many to assume there were network issues across multiple carriers
  • Posts on Twitter that attributed the disruption to a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack by a nation-state actor have gone viral

Burger King adds Impossible Croissan’wich to breakfast menu

  • Burger King has become the first national fast-food chain to add the Impossible Foods sausage to a breakfast sandwich
  • The Impossible Croissan’wich is now available for a limited time at participating locations

People with chronic illnesses have higher coronavirus death rates

  • A new CDC report states that death rates are 12 times higher for coronavirus patients who have some form of chronic illness compared to others who do not
  • The CDC report emphasizes the dangers posed by heart disease, diabetes, and lung ailments
