May 2018 -  Data Pitch: latest updates

Our first Data Pitch cohort is already over halfway through the six-month accelerator programme, and we would like to congratulate the startups from across Europe on passing their first milestones.  It has been an exciting time with our companies making great progress - developing products and services, securing new contracts, speaking at events and attracting new funding and investment, and we are looking forward to sharing more information on their progress over the coming weeks.

Data Pitch Demonstration Day - 18 May

Our 18 startups will be presenting at a Demonstration Day in Lisbon on Friday 18 May at an open pitch session which forms part of Lisbon Entrepreneurship Week, explaining their ideas and updating us on progress so far.  Data providers, companies and investors are all welcome. Places are limited but if you are interested in attending contact for more information.  For those that cannot make it there will be a live webcast of the event and recordings of the pitches will also be available.

What inspires us to work with data?

As we could not wait for Demonstration Day to hear more from our startups, we asked them to share their motivations with us by revealing what they find most exciting about working with data.  We will be sharing their views on our Twitter and Facebook pages and we have published a selection in an article on our website. We particularly like this quote from Dr Guenther Hoffmann, CEO of Lexa Texer, who sums up the excitement of working with data with the help of a famous American inventor.  He says, “We love to discover new things and we love this quote from Charles Kettering: ‘My interest is in the future because I am going to spend the rest of my life there.’” He adds, “With the right data, we can attempt to predict some aspects of the future.”
