The Just Like Jack community enables children with disabilities and their families to experience adventures that they would not normally be able to experience in order to get the most out of life.

Welcome to another exciting year of providing adventures and new experiences for children with disabilities. 2020 was a challenging year for everyone and has changed the way events and activities are conducted for the foreseeable future. The Just Like Jack committee are exploring the best way to achieve our mission into the future while minimising risk to our number one priority, our kids.  

Read on to learn ways we are achieving this and please get in contact if you have ideas or adventures that you wish to take part in. Just Like Jack have an amazing support base of volunteers and connections that can help your kids achieve the seemingly impossible.  

Jack's friend and one of JLJs greatest supporters, John Cannell, was the first Tasmanian ever to attempt the endurance feat of running higher than Mt Everest. On January 1st and 2nd, he ran the Trevallyn steps repeatedly until he achieved an accumulated height equal to Mt Everest raising an amazing amount of donations for Just Like Jack. 

JLJ would like to thank Tim and Natalie Bristow from Justzeusbooks for their amazing donation from funds raised at the book launch of Nowhere Else. 

Just Like Jack are happy to be a proud sponsor of Wheels to Waves who along with Surf Life Saving Tasmania are providing beach wheelchairs throughout Tasmania. These chairs will be located in Kingston Beach, Port Sorell, Ulverstone and Bicheno. The official launch is 20th March, check out Wheels to Waves on Facebook. 

A massive thank you to our ambassador Sam Penny and Helen Shadforth at Cheese Therapy who are continuing to raise money for Just Like Jack through the Cheese For Good program. 

A long overdue thank you to Nathan Johnstone at Script Mobility who provided a generous donation to Just Like Jack over a year ago. Nathan has known Jack since he was born and is a great supporter of Just Like Jack and the disability community as a whole. 

Remember that although Just Like Jack is not participating in any events due to the current global pandemic, our equipment is all available for use.  
Please get in touch with us if you could benefit from borrowing one of our chairs. 
For whatever the reason we would be happy to loan you one of our chairs: 

• To go for a walk or run with your child on the weekend 
• To use for a school cross country 
• To enter a walking/running event JLJ isn't involved in (eg Cancer Council 5km walk/run) 
• For the school holidays 

There is no extra cost to loan one of our chairs, we are happy for them to get used as much as possible.

If anyone is interested in pushing kids for our events please contact us. We can always use help from non-running volunteers too.
