Celebrate INTERdependence Day!
With Coronavirus upon us, and social and political upheavals almost daily, perhaps it is time to celebrate and strengthen our INTER-dependence, rather than our IN-dependence. Despite the refrain of The Osmonds (remember them?), one "bad apple" can spoil the whole bunch, so we must look after all our apples. We are only as healthy as the sickest among us, only as free as the most imprisoned, only as rich as the most in need. Be safe, stay close to home this weekend and we hope to see you soon!
Summer Fun :: Art Kit + Warehouse Volunteers Needed!
The Chicago Park District is welcoming 4,000 campers for a summer unlike any other. Park Staff have done an amazing job quickly planning summer activities under new safety protocols but have limited supplies for art activities. We're helping them out with "Art Kits" so they can use creative reuse to make their own Imagination Journals, Zero-Waste Weaving, Shape Robots, Recyclo-Pouches and more...
Art Kit Volunteers:Help us organize and assemble fun art kits to distribute to summer campers at Parks across the city!

CCRx Wins Rheaply Earth Day Challenge
CCRx is excited to announce we won Rheaply's first Earth Day Challenge.
The challenge was open to anyone interested in sustainability and the circular economy. Rheaply asked entrants to submit creative solutions to reducing material waste in our communities.
"There were many great ideas submitted for the Earth Day Challenge, which made selecting the winner very difficult," said Tom Feracotta, VP at Rheaply. "We appreciated the creativity and thought that went into each submission.
Congrats to Creative Chicago Reuse Exchange (CCRX)" for winning our Earth Day Challenge!
CCRx followed up on our collaboration with the Chicago Teachers Union Foundation's Supply Giveaway in May with a 3-Day Teacher Supply Pick-up in June!
With a "Parking Lot Pick-up" from our warehouse on the SW side, we provided 182 Chicago teachers with over 600 items -- ranging from printers and laminators to whiteboards, markers and flash cards! We enjoyed meeting them and helping them out.
Thanks to all our volunteers who boxed up supplies for every teacher -- it was certainly a labor of love!! And to the Chicago Furniture Bank for providing desks and more. Read more.
Are you an artist in our neighborhood? The City is looking for an artist / team to engage and oversee public art / community-based projects in Auburn - Gresham and Englewood neighborhoods (as well as Austin and New City).
While Covid-19 virus is upon us, CCRx is postponing regular warehouse hours and will not accept donations made without an appointment. Please visit our website for updates on donation policy, volunteering, and how to access supplies. Be safe!
You are receiving this email because you signed up, attended one of our events, or we thought you would be interested in creative reuse in Chicago. Please share this with others who'd be interested too.
The Creative Chicago Reuse Exchange (CCRx) is a 501c3 nonprofit committed to the creative reuse and redistribution of surplus materials to Chicago teachers, non-profits, arts and community groups.
