What's there to fuss about?

Hi there,

This is our first ever newsletter!

We realize that all of us are overloaded with information. This led us to start consolidating perspectives in technology, trends & data on what really matters. We don't like to fuss, but put an opinion.

Here's what we are reading in this week's talk of the town.

What's awesome in Technology?

1.
Decentralized web about to get real? Sir Tim Berners Lee, creator of World Wide Web just launched SolidPod for makers to create applications where users own the data, decide where to store it and choose what apps to will have read or write access. Just about time launch with Facebook's user data breach. Check out more about Solid Pod here.

2. From drawing wireframes to converting HTML code, a young mixed-reality startup teleportHQ plans to revolutionize Automatic frontend development through Computer Vision & Machine Learning. It plans to make lives easy for designers and developers. Check out the awesome video shared by the founder here.

3. 16.2M people struggle with depression is US alone. Now AI can identify depression based on natural conversations through text and audio. Previously, it was based on Q&A format. Just imagine an app you can talk to and it identifies whether you are in depression, and connects you to the right help without having to go through social stigma or lack of acceptance. Check out about the study here.

Trends that will affect us

Insights from the influencers

1. Louis Coppey from Point 9 VC on what does it take to raise a seed round if you are an AI first SaaS startup. To summarize, you need an MVP (Data collection edge + Decent AI performance + User feedback integrated in product) + customer validation + few paid pilots + some distribution setup -->  raise $2M-$3M @ $6M to $10M pre-money and you're setup for success. Check out the whole article here

2. Switch from efficiency mindset to productivity mindset. How Jotform's CEO learned the hard way of doing more with less and imbibed a culture of productivity in his team that did not happen overnight. Read his insightful article.

A little old & gold study by HBR shows that 'Inspired employees are 125 percent more productive than employees who are “merely satisfied.”

What we're building

While working in a large Fortune 500, I realized that we were heavily dependent on spreadsheets to organize work. We would use it to manage deal-flows, track patents, build project timelines, track competitors, manage tasks.. so on and so forth. As we learnt about different teams at different organizations, it came out that this issue was more universal. Spreadsheets that started as a number crunching tool became makeshift databases for millions of people.

We are building a product called Stackby that aims to solve that problem, by creating a multi-purpose collaboration platform that is flexible as a spreadsheet but powerful as a database. You and your team can build your own stack in 2 minutes across hundreds of use-cases from CRM to Project management to Product Planning to Deal-flow management, all from a single intuitive & cost effective platform. No setup, training or lengthy deployment required.

Our vision is to give non-technical end user power to build their own applications by using just their spreadsheet skills and democratize software creation.
