Hello,

This time last year we were nearing the end of Oh No It Isn’t, exhausted after an Autumn which included opening The Old Library Cafe, supporting the first Bodmin Bike Lights, setting up and running the projections and lantern parade for Bodmin Lights Up and then our Christmas run with Ha-Hum-Ah Theatre. This year we’ve actually had a busy Autumn too, with the inaugural Window Wanderland project, which has been a joy to see people decorate their windows and join together in creating a walking tour of lit-up windows across Bodmin. We’ll do that again! Dave Mynne’s A Christmas Carol last week was excellent and with Paint and Pinot and Jack Frost’s Storytime sold out, we’ve got a nice end to what has been a most challenging year. And so, we stumble toward 2021. I for one am weary after this year. It’s not exhaustion like last year, it’s a combination of confusion, lethargy, concern, guilt and just not knowing what’s coming up. Like driving in fog - it’s taking longer and requires more concentration. But I’m optimistic for next year. We’ve just been granted some funding to help us explore the costs associated to some refurbishments to the Old Library and we will be looking for additional funding to explore how we might be able to buy the building from Cornwall Council. We’ve got a large grant being assessed by the Arts Council, which will look at embedding arts activity out in communities over a year and we’ve got some interesting companies getting in touch about performing in Bodmin, so we will hopefully have a new season of work ready to share in a socially distance capacity in the coming months.

We know there are many of you who will be working over Christmas and there are those who might not have people to share it with. We’re sad we’re not able to run the Community Christmas event on Christmas Day like last year and we feel pretty hopeless that we’re not able to respond to these needs at the moment. But there are many organisations who are, and who are doing wonderful things behind the scenes, not just at Christmas but all year round, to support and improve the lives of the people within our community. We are grateful to be able to work with many of them and hope that you’ll continue to give your support through these dark times and long into the bright ones.

From all of us at intoBodmin, we wish you a restful and joyful festive season and we will see you in 2021 for the next part of this journey…

Best wishes

What's On | intoBodmin
Tickets for any of our events which take place in person are limited due to the need to maintain a safe distance. We work hard to make our venue and each of our events Covid safe, and all tickets are fully refundable if we have to cancel or postpone due to Covid. If you have any questions please feel free to EmailUs@intobodmin.co.uk.

DECEMBER EVENTS | SOLD OUT!
Both of our upcoming events Jack Frost's Story Time and Paint & Pinot are now sold out. We don't currently have any events scheduled for January, but our season kicks off in style in February! Ticket numbers are likely to still be limited due to the continued need to social distance, so don't wait too long to get yours! Besides, they'd also make the perfect Christmas gift for that special someone!

DIGITAL FRIENDS
The Old Library Cafe has received a donation of two iPads, which we will make available for anyone to borrow in the café, free of charge. To make this happen, we need to gather a small group of 'Digital Friends' to be on hand to support anyone who needs help using the iPads. Could you donate a small amount of time on a regular basis - maybe an hour a month - to support people with their digital needs? We'll provide you with training, plus free tea and cake while you're in the cafe helping.
Supported by Healthwave and the Barclays Digital Wings programme.

Bodmin's Window Wanderland

We want to say a huge thank you to all of the window makers who got crafty and got stuck in - you made Bodmin a really magical place to be! We hope you'll keep your displays up as long as you like to bring some festive cheer to the town. We've had some really nice feedback, so we're looking forward to an even bigger and better Window Wanderland next year!
