Well, fall has officially arrived - and with it comes so much good news! Three grants, the long awaited ACLU video finally debuts, and loads of filming! Read all about it below!

*The New York Times recently published a piece on Texas Senate hopeful Beto O'Rourke's growing fan base, who are willing to cross party lines - white evangelical women. You can read the full article here

*October means one thing - LGBTQ History Month has officially arrived! With that, we suggest you take a look at the thirty-one outstanding icons profiled for 2018.

*Where do we begin? Grants! Let's start with grants! We are THRILLED to announce that we have received funding from three amazing organizations! The International Documentary (IDA) Enterprise Fund (check out all the amazing projects funded!), the Southern Documentary Fund, and the Firelight Next Steps Fund. Through their generous support we have shifted into full production mode. It's ON, y'all! Daresha and the crew have been filming, filming, filming since September, with no end in sight! Texas, Florida, Georgia, and Oklahoma are just some of the stops on our production tour de force. Check out our photos below!
*And now - for our news that has been one year in the making! Late last fall, Daresha was commissioned by the ACLU to direct a short film about transgender rights in America, which premiered last Wednesday on Conde Nast's, as well as the Teen Vogue platforms. In five short days, the video has received over 285K views and has already opened hearts and minds based on the outpouring of positive feedback! That's absolutely incredible for an eighteen-minute video!

*As we hinted at in the last update, Daresha and Laura had a very busy September. First, they met up in Texas to film Dallas Pride (which. was. amazing). Then, they flew out to IDA's Getting Real documentary film conference in LA and spent the week making new friends, pitching Mama Bears, and basking in the California sunshine.

Below, you'll see the spontaneous reaction when Daresha announced we had received the IDA Enterprise grant to a group of fellow filmmakers! Pure bliss.
And here's Daresha and Laura with Naomi Walker, Executive Director of SDF, one of our biggest champions!

*Liz Dyer sent us this adorable mama bears video. Enjoy these proud mamas at Pride!
*And here's the gorgeous piece Teen Vogue did with Kimberly and Kai. <3
We'll have more updates next month, and, we hope, more good news to share. Until then...Happy fall, Happy Halloween, and don't forget to vote!
