Hello everyone!

We on the Mama Bears team would like to wish you all a wonderful (albeit belated) Mother's Day!

Our crew has been very busy this last month—we have a ton to fill you in on, so get ready!
*Have you heard about the new initiative called Beyond I Do? Take a look. Laura recommends starting with the audio story from Kentucky. It's a call to action and a stark reminder of how much further we've yet to go.

*The LGBTQ Poverty Collaborative just put out a new report, done in collaboration with CUNY's Social Justice Sexuality Project. These statistics outline why acceptance is vital to the LGBTQ community. You can access the full report here.

*First, we'd like to thank you!! all for donating, sharing, and shouting out our Indiegogo campaign. Those contributions made it possible for us to film the 2018 Free Mom Hugs Tour and for that we are deeply grateful. (More about filming below!)

Over the course of our 60-day campaign we had a total of 136 backers from 5 countries! We were overwhelmed by everyone's efforts, especially all of the mama bears who contributed videos. Those short, personal testimonies are what this film is all about. So, thank you, from the whole Mama Bears team.

*And we are thrilled to report that Mama Bears spent six days in May filming in Oklahoma and Wyoming! We once again hooked up with the Free Mom Hugs Tour and joined mama bear Sara and her son Parker for the OKC launch and Mother's Day events in Laramie, Wyoming. It was an incredible six days and we're looking forward to many more to come! Here is Sara, Parker, and our amazing crew in Wyoming, outside the Western-fabulous Old Corral hotel.

We have some very exciting news to report—in 2017 our fearless leader and Mama Bears director, Daresha Kyi, was chosen to direct one of three short films commissioned by the ACLU! And guess what? It's now complete! We'll share more with you all when the series officially launches, but for now we will share this photo, taken from the short's theater premiere at the Alamo Drafthouse in Brooklyn, NY.

*In more Daresha news, our unstoppable director was recently featured on the podcast "Tea Talks with Tomeka." Take a listen!

*Speaking of podcasts, in case you missed it last month, check our mama bear Sara on Jen Hatmaker's podcast!

*Send us your updates, mamas! We'll be sure to add them to our next newsletter.
Until next time!

Daresha & Laura
