Righto. I'd intended to send this out mid-June. But clearly, I did not. So I said to myself hey, you have GOT TO send a newsletter out this weekend, before the end of June, okay!!! And we know how that went. And then, something interesting happened late last week. And it involves a small little something I had planned for the newsletter for June. So, then I thought, yet, let this wait another couple of weekends.

We're still in lockdown. And there's a part of me that gets the necessity to revive the Indian economy and a part of me that battles with "Is it right that delivery folk - whether food or groceries or couriers are out there, putting themselves at risk, delivering to those who are in the comfort and (relative) safety of their homes? Or are we paying for the services so that they can be paid in turn and they can feed their families?"
But but but... keeping with the theme of food (and not delving into mopey things), there's something that has come out strong in all of this. Many many people have like-minded hobbies (or just give in to herd mentality <please insert joke here>) or food or a craft and it's those things that then begin to trend). So, talking about trends might not be a bad idea then. No?

I've been following @chicabeingme on Twitter for a while now. And I'm quite a fan of her series' and concepts behind all the art she makes. We spoke a little bit, exchanged a couple of ideas and voila! Don't it look pweddy!?

It's about everything food (or food-related) that has been trending this lockdown -
  • Dalgona coffee (Duh!)
  • Banana Bread and Mug cakes for baking noobs
  • Gardenscape Focaccia and Sourdough
  • Faux ramen bowls
  • Healthy snacks (who doesn’t love munching on random things with their tea/coffee at 5 pm?)
  • Cooking help videos/lives on Instagram
  • Sustainable cooking
  • Home gardening and growing your own veg
and so much more!

Read the complete lowdown on my blog!
If you know me well enough, you will know how hard I resisted to make a lockdown bad-pun instead of that 'lowdown.'

Write to me with your cooking experiences through the lockdown. I'd love to hear (read: read), I would!

It goes without saying, stay safe, y'all.
Cook your hearts out. And eat well.

Until next time, nom nom!
