A Thanksgiving Message From the Executive Director:
Our Wilkes County office was bursting at the seams with CIS staff members on Monday, November 19. On most days, our office is much quieter since the staff is either in schools, out in the community or attending meetings.
As we come upon the Thanksgiving season, my heart always seems to land on one particular thing I am most grateful for. This year, it is the staff at CIS. They are all as different as the students they serve, the donors they cultivate, and the communities they work in.
A perfect example is how each one of them interacted with me, their executive director, on Monday. A couple were content to say hello with a smile on their face, several indulged me by returning the blowing of kisses I sent to them, a couple more wanted a hug as they went on their way, a couple whispered how they were appreciative for their position at CIS and finally there were the few who came by for the laughs they knew they could count on. Our staff at CIS has a unique part to play in the life of the children, families, stakeholdersand communities who participate in our programs. One thing they all have in common is PASSION:
Pulling for their families is the name of their game.
After school is where you can find them late in the day.
Students success is their heart’s desire.
Striving for excellence is where they live.
Ongoing leadership is a part of who they are.
Never give up is their motto.
I feel blessed to have such an incredible team surrounding me and pulling for students and families in Wilkes, Alexander, Ashe and Alleghany Counties. Thank you, Amanda, Angie, Brittany, Caitlin, Dana, Dawn, Diane, Erica, Fawn, Jeremy, Jessica, Jettie, Jordyn, LeRone, Kelsey, Melissa, Sarah, Shannon, Stephanie, Tigerand Vickie! You are the best staff in all the land! I am excited about 2019. Sincerely,
Glendora Yarbrough, Executive Director
