I'm writing to give some GREAT news that was shared on Sunday (12/8) at announcement time. The Vestry signed a contract to begin work on the Sanctuary and the work is to begin very soon (some of you heard on Sunday that it was beginning today, but it was shifted to Monday (12/16)  morning).

Now, to be clear, this is only the first of several phases. This work is to shore up the arch above the altar rail. A steel column will extend up from a new concrete foundation in the crawlspace to the peak of the arch, to take the weight off the failing parts of the arch. It won't be pretty, but this is an emergency measure--the wall's movement has begun to accelerate.

After this phase, the Vestry and engineering firm will reevaluate what inspections and repairs come next. Once the steel column is in, though, we should be cleared by the engineer to return to the space for worship. Their stated goal is for us to be in the sanctuary by Christmas Eve services!
