Friends,

A happy and joyous New Year to you all!

In many Christian traditions, including our own, today is the Feast of the Holy Name. Luke 2:21 states, "after eight days had passed, it was time to circumcise the child; and he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb."

There are several important dates to note below, one of which is the baptism of Meesh Montgomery at worship on January 12! Please plan to be there for what is always a joyous and very happy occasion!

As we move into this new year, let's pray the following prayers together. St. Peter's is in a period of transition that is filled with possibilities. This is the perfect opportunity to ask for a renewed sense of calling on our lives, for guidance, and for the ministry of St. Peter's in the Gallipolis community:

O God, by whom the meek are guided in judgment, and light rises up in darkness for the godly: Grant us, in all our doubts and uncertainties, the grace to ask what you would have us to do, that the Spirit of wisdom may save us from all false choices, and that in your light we may see light, and in your straight path may not stumble; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (BCP, 832)

Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name. Amen. (BCP, 101)

Almighty and eternal God, so draw our hearts to you, so guide our minds, so fill our imaginations, so control our wills, that we may be wholly yours, utterly dedicated to you; and then use us, we pray, as you will, and always to your glory and the welfare of your people; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen. (BCP, 832)

What's Coming Up

  • Sunday (1/5) @ 10 AM -- Holy Eucharist (2nd Sunday of Christmas)
  • Monday (1/6) @ Noon -- Holy Eucharist (Feast of the Epiphany)
  • Sunday (1/12) @ 10 AM -- Holy Eucharist with Baptism (Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord)
  • Sunday (1/19) @ 10 AM -- Holy Eucharist (The Confession of St. Peter & Leave-Taking Liturgy)

Sunday, January 19 will be my last day as the Priest-in-Charge of St. Peter's. That morning, the Rev. Canon Lee Anne Reat will represent the diocese in a leave-taking liturgy as we celebrate St. Peter's patronal feast and look toward the future.

As we move into the last few weeks of my time as your priest, I am feeling like I don't have enough time to express to each of you how much I love and appreciate your presence in my family's life and in the life of this church. Please know that my heart is overflowing with love, even if I run out of time to say it to each of you individually.

May peace and all goodness abound,
