SUPPORT STELLA'S WORKERS ON STRIKE

UFCW832 Stella's

Workers at Stella's Restaurant (Sherbrook Location) have been on strike since September 21st due to management's hostility over extremely reasonable demands. The owners of Stella's have not met with the workers to bargain in any serious way. Thus, the workers are calling for a boycott of all Stella's locations and calling for other actions too:

How you can act in solidarity:

  • Boycott all Stella's locations
  • Contact Head Office and tell them that you will boycott all Stella's locations until they offer workers a fair deal. 204-788-1033 and headoffice@stellas.ca. You know what to do!
  • Walk the picket line with workers
    • LOCATION: 116 Sherbrook St.
    • PICKETING HOURS: Daily. 9am to 5pm. (Help needed especially on afternoons and on Sunday)
    • Wear a mask and other PPE. Show up in small groups of 2 or 3. Show up at 9am or 1pm if you can so picket captain can coordinate the line.
    • Check out this great album of picket line support!
  • Donate money and/or refreshments/snacks to Strike Headquarters 130 Sherbrook St.
  • Post on social media using hashtag #notmystellas.

This strike matters!

Friends don't let friends eat at Stella's locations while
workers are calling for a boycott!

Strike & Boycott: How You Can Help. Boycott all Stella's locations. Join the picket line at 116 Sherbrook St. Donate refreshments to the picket line.
Updated Picketing Hours: Daily. 9am-5pm.
Make Your Thoughts Known To Head Office!
Call 204-788-1033 or email headoffice@stellas.ca to voice support for the striking workers and the boycott. Not sur what to say? We suggest something along the lines of "Hi, my name is _____ and I am calling to voice support for the striking workers, and to let you know that I will be boycotting all Stella's locations until you offer workers a fair deal"

SUPPORT MI'KMAW FISHING RIGHTS

Settler colonial violence and racism against Indigenous people, especially at points of resource extraction, are still a shameful reality today.  It is myth to treat this oppression as exclusively of the past.   One instance of this is the violence enacted by settlers in Nova Scotia against Mi'kmaw fishers.  There is a lot of misinformation and there are some ways to support even if you don't live directly in the area.

This google doc is an incredible resource which compiles the following:

  • Where to send donations
  • Actions you can take
  • How to stay up to date
  • Which social media accounts to follow for information
  • Resources, information and news articles
Check it out, share, and support.
