Welcome to the latest edition of Worship Matters
from the Diocese of Truro.

Welcome to Creationtide!

This mailing comes to you in the middle of Creationtide. I'm sure many of you have Harvest Festival services coming up or maybe you have already had yours.

I hope you can take this time to praise the Lord for his creation and pray for those who work the land and bring that harvest in and onto our shelves as well as pray for new ways to bring in the spiritual harvest and where we can sow the seeds of Good News to grow new disciples.

Local Worship Leader Coordinator

Ongoing Training

Ongoing training modules will restart in the new year.

Thank you so everyone who has come along to one of the additional training sessions this year.

I hope they have been helpful in both content and fellowship with other Local Worship Leaders - it has also been good to welcome others into the sessions including some readers/LLMs, clergy, those considering their ministry and those who lead intercessions in their contexts.

There will not be any additional modules during the autumn to give me time to rework some of the modules and work one some new ones I've been promising for a while, including the second Prayer and Intercessions workshop looking more at different types of prayer.

I'm excited at how we can learn and grow together.

Keep and eye out for news and they will be launched here in Worship Matters.

Collect for Climate Change

Holy God, earth and air and water are your creation,
and every living thing belongs to you:
have mercy on us as climate change confronts us.
Give us the will and the courage to simplify the way we live,
to reduce the energy we use,
to share the resources you provide,
and to bear the cost of change.
Forgive our past mistakes
and send us your Spirit,
with wisdom in present controversies
and vision for the future to which you call us
in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Everyday Faith Event

What does it mean for us as Local Worship Leaders and how can we help our congregations as we lead worship.

An event put on especially for Local Worship Leaders to consider the topic of Everyday Faith.

23rd October 9:30-3:30

Bishop Hugh will be joining us for this event to introduce this topic then we will have different sessions throughout the day thinking about weaving the topic into worship, how to bring Everyday Faith in our talks and how to tell our own story.

This event will be held dually in person and streamed on Zoom.

Refreshments provided but please bring your own lunch or head into town to get some in the break.

The next Sunday Plus courses are due to start in January.

Two courses are planned - one on Zoom and another in Trigg Major.

Combining self study and seminar style sessions online we consider structure and style of worship, prayer, seasons of the church year, all age worship, how to utilise the 'talk slot' as a LWL, music and how a LWL can assist in eucharistic services.

You can find the forms needed to train and more information on the Local Worship Leader section of the Diocese website here
