29 Years and Still Going!

We have had 4 schools so far this fall: Mt. Hope Christian School (Burlington, MA), Holden Christian Academy (Holden, MA), Mt. Zion Christian School (Manchester, NH), and Christian Life Academy (Brookfield, MA).

Several HCA 5th graders held a bake sale to raise money for my car in May 2016. They've continued the tradition the last 2 years during spiritual emphasis week.

Business was booming again this year, and they raised almost $400 extra for Coastlands! We are incredibly blessed. Special thanks to their moms as well! :)

Back-to-school time means the opportunity to journal confidentially with the oldest group of students at a school, and the journals are usually one of the most important parts of the week. Journaling outside, in beautiful scenery, on a warm fall day, with a playful dog is a bonus.
|
|
We try to attend as many of the students' special events as we can throughout the year. Pam and I attended Jesse Remington High School's humanities faire, which was celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation and included drama, games, etc.

In early September, Jake, Tom, and I went on an adventure for the third consecutive year. I always look forward to this quality time with them!
|
|
In previous years we hiked in Vermont and went whitewater rafting in Maine. This year we spent a weekend on Cape Cod.

No need for a car radio when you have live music!

The essentials for any camping trip with high school guys.

Fall means attending lots of soccer and football games - as close as Manchester, and as far away as Philadelphia and Syracuse.
|
|
When you're offered free Red Sox tickets, you can't turn them down! It was also a great opportunity to spend time with a high school senior.

I received this picture along with a note from a former HCA student who is now a public high school senior: "We had senior day for field hockey and the girls made us memory jars. Thought I'd share this with you because since 8th grade when you encouraged me to stay strong for God, I've been making a difference and a few girls wrote these down as their memories. So thanks so much for being a huge inspiration!! Coastlands is an absolute blessing!"
This is an example of how your support makes a difference!

Anna Mullen graduated in 2017 from Grove City College with a major in Psychology and a minor in Family Studies. She has spent many years working with children and youth as a preschool teacher, a teacher's aide, and a Camp Berea counselor.
|
|
Nate Silvieus graduated from both Word of Life and Moody Bible Institute, majoring in Biblical Studies and minoring in Education. In 2010 Nate joined Coastlands for a semester after experiencing it as a student for several years. He too has experience working with youth in multiple settings.

Goodbye to Miss Emily
Coastlands wishes Miss Emily Nowell well as she departs from Coastlands after 2 years of faithful service. In addition to the regular responsibilities of a Coastlands team member, Emily taught pre-school chapels, created our daily Powerpoints, and did a variety of behind-the-scenes tasks. We appreciate her servant heart and her love for the kids and wish her the best as she begins this new chapter of her life!

Part-time Team Members
Joanne Lenihan, a newly retired 5th grade teacher, spent 3 weeks with us this fall. Ginny Clasby, a part-time teacher at Concord Christian Academy, served on our team at Holden Christian Academy.
|
|
Ben Greenier, who lives and works in CT, joined us at Mt. Zion for the third consecutive year. Like Nate, Ben also previously served with Coastlands for a semester. We're very thankful for a consistent infusion of part-time team members and appreciate the sacrifices they make to do it!

In mid-October, Anna and I attended the Lead Youth conference, which is put on by New Englanders for New Englanders. Ministry in New England is different from other parts of the country, and it's refreshing to attend a training event put on by people who understand that and who have a passion for ministry in this region. We were blessed!

Financial Update
I, and Coastlands, rely heavily on donations to be able to minister to and mentor youth. Would you consider partnering with us with a one-time or monthly donation? It's hard to quantify what we do, but you can see the impact of your giving through the 20+ reviews by students, parents, teachers, and other staff members at https://greatnonprofits.org/org/coastlands-consultants-incorporated. You can give to Coastlands through our website, http://coastlandsconsultants.org/. If you don't care about a tax-deduction and would like to give directly to me, you can go to http://www.paypal.com and give through the email address matthuffman88@gmail.com. Checks may also be sent to 345 Coolidge Ave., Manchester, NH 03102. Thanks for your support!
