Nominate for the University’s Innovation Prize 2021

Each year, Uppsala University awards the Innovation Prize "Hjärnäpplet" to one or more researchers or doctoral students for outstanding transference of knowledge from the University to a company and/or other external organisation that has resulted in an innovation. Nominations can be made by all employees. The nomination period is open until 25 April.

Webinar – Funding opportunities within Cluster Health in Horizon Europe

Workshop on how to write a competitive MSCA postdoctoral fellowship proposal
The EU coordinators arrange a workshop for applicants and their hosts on how to write a competitive Marie Sklodowska Curie Action (MCSA) Postdoctoral Fellowship proposal.
When: 16 and 17 June 2021 on Zoom.
The webinar on 16 June includes general information about the call suitable for both applicant and host.
Tentative deadline of the call: 15 September 2021.

The Swedish Government has commissioned the funding agency Forte to establish a new national programme in mental health and to initiate efforts in public health and prevention. Calls for applications will likely open during the spring 2021, so look out for this at the Forte web site.
Currently, Forte has an open call in the area Challenges in working life.

When: Application deadline 2021-05-20.

Who: Individual researchers.
How much: Maximum of SEK 18 million for 6 years.

Swedish Research Council
Call for applications for research environment grants for follow-up studies of COVID-19 vaccines.
When: Application deadline 2021-04-13.
Who: Individual researchers with a clinical position of at least 20 per cent of a full-time equivalent.
How much: SEK 10–25 million, for 3–4 years.
Swedish Cancer Society
The Society finances high quality research in all areas that concern cancer. They welcome applications from researchers in various fields, including medicine, pharmacy, public health and caring sciences, and natural science.
When: Application deadline 2021-04-29.
What: Project grants, planning grants, research months.

When Application deadline 2021-05-17.
Who: Applicants who have ongoing SSF projects or have completed such projects after January 2018.
How much: SEK 300 000 or 500 000.
Swedish Heart Lung Foundation
Call for applications for project grants, research months and international scholarships.
When: Application deadline 2021-05-18.
Who: Individual researchers.
Vinnova – Innovation milieus in precision health 2021
Funding for projects that aim to improve accuracy within the entire health area, from prevention and promotion to diagnostics and treatment. Proposals should include at least three of the following sectors: large companies, SMEs, academia, the public sector and care providers, institutes and idea-driven organisations.
When: Application deadline 2021-06-08.
Who: Constellations with at least three parties.
How much: SEK 5–8 million per year, for 2.5 or 5 years.
Jeansson's Foundations
Starting grants for researchers who are in the process of establishing an independent research group.
When: Application deadline 2021-06-18.
Who: Researchers who defended their thesis in 2015 or later.
ERC Consolidator grants
This call is for scientists who want to consolidate their independence by establishing a research team and continue to develop a success career.
When: Application deadline 2021-04-20.
Who: Researchers with 7–12 years of experience since completion of PhD.
How much: Up to € 2 million for a period of 5 years.

U-Share – Collaboration projects
Shortly, a call for applications will open for funding of two collaboration projects, one hosted by a Medicine and Pharmacy department at UU, and one at a department in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, SLU.
When: Tentative application deadline is 2021-05-16.
Who: A PI from one university in collaboration with a post doc candidate from the other.
How much: SEK 1 million per year for two years.
