 REFLECTION

"The Lord has given me a strong warning not to think like everyone else does. He said, "Don't call everything a conspiracy, like they do, and don't live in dread of what frightens them. Make the Lord of Heaven's Armies holy in your life. He is the one you should fear. He is the one who should make you tremble."

Isaiah 8:11-13 (NLT)

Thank you from Jonathan and Elaine Burt
Elaine and I want to say a big thank you for the gift of £555.00 from the church towards evangelism and follow-up in Niger. In December there was a special series of Jesus Film showings in ten villages where a Christian water-aid project had installed water tanks. These places are all in the Gueschemé area where Elaine and I spent so many years. There was a greater than normal response to this outreach with around 1,700 people watching the film in nine of the villages. They had just started the film in the tenth village when a man was taken seriously ill and needed prayer. The outreach team also prayed for the headman’s wife. There is much interest in that village, a place we have had literacy work in the past. In another village an “Iman” from a local sect tried to stop the film from being shown, but the headman overrode him and 170 sat down to watch.
In three villages a number of mainly children and young people prayed to become followers of Jesus. Forty were from a large village with two strong churches, so should be well cared for. But in another village there were no believers until 45 mostly young people prayed. In a third place there are 17 new Christians with no church or local believer to give pastoral care. Pastor Samuel, the Gospel Together team leader, phoned me to ask if there was any help I could forward. So this gift from LCCS came at a great time. We hope either to have someone move to these villages for the rest of the dry season, or else subsidise travel costs for regular follow-up visits.
I hope this will encourage your prayers for Niger. Thank you all again.
In Him, Elaine and Jonathan Burt
