We hope that this emails finds you in good health and happiness.

It’s been a whirlwind of a month at FFT. Earlier this week we launched our new training to improve the delivery of inclusive services to Gypsies and Travellers. More information and details on how to book.

Our Outreach Team have been coordinating Summer trips with young Gypsies and Travellers from Sussex, enjoying activities from beach volley ball to rollercoasters.

Our lively organisation continues to grow. We have two vacancies closing soon. If you would like to join the team as a Communications and Campaigns Officer, (remote role, closing 1st September) or an Outreach Worker, (East Sussex based, closing 13th September), apply here.

Moving for Change funding awarded to projects improving lives of people living roadside
Almost £100,000 funding has been awarded to projects which aim to improve quality of life for nomadic Gypsies and Travellers, and the communities in which they live. Read more.

Justice First Fellowship 2021 Hosts Announced
With Community Law Partnership, we are partnering with The Legal Education Fund's Justice First Fellowship offering a contract to an aspiring solicitor. Apply before 13th September.

FFT holding art exhibition featuring Gypsy and Traveller artists and craftspeople 
From 8th - 12th September 2021, Phoenix Arts Space in Brighton will be displaying artworks from a selection of the country's most talented Gypsy, Roma, Traveller and nomadic people. Read more.

Update from the APPG
APPG members have been busy focussing on the measures in the Police Bill. Members continue to draw attention to the inequalities faced by Gypsies, Travellers and Roma across the board.

The APPG will resume its activities in September.

Volunteer to mystery shop GP practices
If you would like to support our work ensuring GP practices are following NHS guidance and registering patients who do not have a fixed address, get in touch.

Culturally Appropriate Advocacy Pilots to go to tender
The Independent Review of the Mental Health Act made a recommendation for more culturally appropriate advocacy for people of ethnic backgrounds and communities. Find out more about pilot projects available to providers and a market engagement event on 6th September here

“This month, the Outreach Team at FFT have been taking young Gypsies and Travellers from Bighton and Sussex to a range of organised Summer activities, including paint balling, beach volley ball, laser zone and a trip to Chessington World of Adventures. The young people had a wonderful time!”

This month we announced the winners of our Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month art competition for schools. We asked schools to contribute a piece of art on the themes 'Proud To Be' or 'Make Some Space'. Thank you to everyone for their submissions and congratulation to the winners. Amazing work all round!
