Hello TAK students, instructors, families and friends!
Following are some events that everyone should know about:
HALLOWEEN EVENING SCHEDULE
October 31st. The dojo will open for the following: Open workout from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. Then from 5:30pm to 6:30pm a combined class for Tiger Cubs, Juniors and Adults…that’s right, everybody trains together. Dojo closes promptly at 6:30pm.
HOLIDAY KARATE TOURNAMENT
November 3rd. The Master Floyd Burk’s 37th Annual Holiday Karate Tournament will be held at Santee City Hall in building 8p. The tournament starts at 9:00am and lasts until around 2:00pm. Students who aren’t competing are encouraged to drop by and watch. All the regular divisions will be held along with a special “Showmanship” division which we’ve added to spice things up.
Note: No 9:00 or 9:45am classes will be held that day.
BLACK BELT TEST
November 25th. All invited candidates will convene at 7:00am at the dojo. Pertinent information will be handed out the week before the grading. There are no spectators.
FORMAL PROMOTIONS & AWARDS
December 8th. This is Traditional American Karate’s big-bang event-of-the-year extravaganza that no one should miss without a three month notice. 10th Degree Black Belt, GM Danny Chapman, is flying in from Tennessee to join us. There will be color belt promotions, black belt promotions, special awards and Starfighter XVIII top ten awards including the crowning of the 2018 Grand Champion. The event is being held at New Heights Church in Santee. All students should wear full gi.
TAK’S ANNUAL OPEN HOUSE
December 18th. Our once a year Open House starts at 6:30pm and lasts until 8:00pm or so. This is a time for TAK karate-ka and their families to talk, have fun together and reminisce about the year’s highlights. Drinks and snacks will be served. Attire is casual.
